District Choral Festival is one the most important performances for the choirs. There are 3 parts to this experience. Each choir performs in front of a panel of 4 judges, works in a clinic situation with one judge and then sight sings for one judge. The choirs each prepare 2 songs and are adjudicated on rhythm, pitch, tone, presentation and interpretation. The choir is able to see how well they are progressing by their scores in each category on the rubric. In the sight reading room the choirs have to perform three different 8 measure phrases of music with minimal assistance from the director. This event allows the choir to understand what level their choir is performing at but also to hear other choirs from a wide variety of schools. Below are pictures from last year's festival.
If the choirs earn a Division I rating at District Choral Festival, they are invited to participate in the State Choral Festival in late April.
